Our managing partner, Chris Lingard , has celebrated his tenth anniversary with the firm at a party thrown by his colleagues. Chris trained and worked at City firm Denton Hall before moving to Cornwall in 1995. He then led the litigation team at a Truro based Duchy wide firm before joining Follett Stock in 1999. He became managing partner of the firm in 2005 and in 2007 he and Martin Pearse bought out the other partners. In 2006 Chris was declared "Partner of the Year" at the national Lawyer Awards at a glittering ceremony at London Grosvenor House Hotel and in 2007 he won "Business Leader of the Year" at the Cornwall Business Awards.
Follett Stock is today unrecognisable from the firm he joined a decade ago. Back then it consisted of 4 fee earners (and a dog) in a quirky office on Malpas Road. Today , the firm operates from its contemporary offices at Truro Business Park with almost 50 colleagues.
Chris said "This has been a very exciting 10 years which has gone in a flash. When I joined the firm people said Follett Who? Now we are probably Cornwall's highest profile solicitors with a reputation second to none. The best bit is that our future looks incredibly bright. We are currently expanding our teams whilst our competitors are cutting posts. Our long awaited arrival into the Exeter market is now firmly on the agenda for the summer and we are relishing the challenges that this presents. Most people who deal with us agree that we are different from other sometimes rather stuffy law firms."
Fellow partner Martin Pearse said "Chris is positive thinking and leadership personified. These qualities have been recognised at the highest level within our profession, and is recognised on a daily basis by those of us (his colleagues, clients and opponents) who are carried along with his tremendous drive and enthusiasm".
Associate Partner Verity Slater said “Having worked with Chris at Follett Stock for 7 years I have experienced the incredible way the firm has grown and developed and am very proud to be part of his team. Roll on the next 10 years !”.
