We've teamed up with The Institute of Cancer Research for the 'Will for Free Campaign'

The Institute of Cancer Research has teamed up with Follett Stock for the charity’s 2008 Will for Free campaign.

Teri Cailleach - who heads up our Personal Team here at Follett Stock has particular reason to be delighted to be teaming up with Cancer Research following her own personal experiences.

“I was diagnosed with cancer on the 11 January 2001 and underwent treatment including chemotherapy and radiotherapy.  As soon as I’d completed my treatment my father received a terminal cancer diagnosis.  From a position of very little knowledge my family and I found ourselves facing life threatening illness.  We certainly benefited from the medical treatment available at that time.  In terms of medical progress much has been achieved since that time and this is down to Charities such as The Institute of Cancer Research".

"Without The Institute of Cancer Research’s fund raising and dedication I might not be here telling you how much is owed to this Charity".

At Follett Stock we always like to put our money where our mouth is and because of that we are delighted to be supporting The Institute of Cancer Research Will for Free Campaign.

Follett Stock and The Institute of Cancer Research both understand the importance of making a Will to ensure that your loved ones are looked after in the event of your death.

Kelly Greig and Ann-Marie Wilton also of our Personal Team explained:

“Some people believe that if they die without a Will, their spouse takes everything. Sadly this is not true. If you do not have a valid Will the intestacy rules apply which means that people you may not have thought about benefiting such as your brothers, sisters or aunts and uncles may receive something from your estate.  It also means that if you are living with your partner and never marry, your partner receives nothing!”

Participants in the scheme will receive independent, professional legal advice, allowing you to make a basic Will or update an existing one for free.  The scheme is open to anyone aged 50 or over.  Partners may have mirror Wills made with each other as long as one of them is over 50.   Participants have the opportunity to leave a legacy to The Institute Cancer Research or make a donation but there is no obligation to do so. The Institute of Cancer Research stress that all participants should ensure they look after their loved ones first. The closing date for the campaign is 31st December 2008
